Thomas has discovered that he can climb out of his toddler bed. For the first few days he stayed in it whether he was awake or asleep, unaware that there was any other option. But today he discovered that he can crawl out.
Now how am I supposed to get him to take a nap when he won't stay in his bed? Arrrgh, this is not fun. I am tired and want a nap, but I can't sleep through him playing with his toys and throwing books all over the floor. I've already gone in and put him back to bed three or four times, all to no avail. I know eventually he'll get used to staying in bed and taking nice naps again, but the transition times are always kinda difficult.

Why don't you try tying him up, or use a straight jacket with handcuffs? He wont get out for sure.
Hahaha! You know, it just might work...
We tried that with mine, no such luck. *wink*
I soooo share your pain, and although it can take a while, they do eventually learn to go to bed. And it's nice not to have to get up and let them out of the crib in the morning, they can get up and play with some toys or come climb in bed with me. Oren used to do that all the time, and I loved the morning snuggle time!
