I try to keep scissors out of the kids' reach, but we aren't always as careful about that as we should be. The kitchen scissors were somehow left where Thomas could reach them, and reach them he did. Zaylee, being a watchful and helpful big sister who knows that scissors aren't for little boys to play with, tried to take them away from Thomas. However, in doing so, she somehow managed to slice the pad of her finger (the part with the fingerprint).
The screaming and crying brought Jeff away from the cake he was baking, and me away from the show I was watching. We knew as soon as we got a good look at her finger that she would need stitches, so Jeff took her to the ER. I got to stay home and clean up the red stains on the carpet and in the bathroom. And finish the cake Jeff started.
Zaylee ended up with 8 stitches. And a fancy cake with pink frosting and chocolate sprinkles, to help her feel better.

I think I'd rather have a bad haircut than an ER visit. (But then, I've definitely experienced the former.) So sorry to Zaylee; totally NOT FUN. Love the cake, though!
oh no!!!! That stinks!
I hope it mends quickly---ouch, just thinking about it makes me wince!
If I slice my finger, would you make a cake too? LOL
8 stitches, wow. You know what will be fun is when she has to get them taken out in 7-10 days!
Oh no! Poor Zaylee. As soon as I saw that picture of her hand, my stomach dropped. I'm so glad that she's okay and I hope her little finger heals quickly!!
