That's right - it's Wednesday evening, and I made it to the farmer's market!
I didn't actually buy a whole lot. I mostly just wanted to go there and walk around a bit, take it all in. There was a lady handing out free tokens for face painting, so I took Zaylee to get her face painted.
It says "I heart CFM." CFM stands for "C. (our town) Farmer's Market". Zaylee was very good and held still the whole time. I think she was a bit shy about it, but she really liked it when the lady showed her a mirror so she could see the painting on her face. We tried to get Thomas' face painted as well, but he was not interested in that at all, so we didn't push the matter. The lady got a couple tiny blue dots on his cheek before it was very clear that it would get very smudged right away if she got any further.
Like I said, I didn't get much. Most of the vegetables were ones that I could get from my garden or from Mom's, or that I just wasn't interested in. There were eggplants though, at 99 cents per pound. I got these 2 eggplants for a little under $2.
And with one of those eggplants, I made Michelle's Broiled Eggplant with Garlic Sauce.
Wow, it tasted so good! Very unique and delicious. I ate half of the eggplant in one sitting. I'm going to work really hard at saving the other half for Jeff when he gets home. But he doesn't get home until about 1:00 in the morning, so we'll see how that goes. ;-)

Good Morning! We, too, (well, Jackson and I) went to our Farmers Market this weekend. I bough lots of corn on the cob to blanch and freeze for the winter! My MIL always did that and it would be soooo good come the holidays and the winter months! :) I am going back to the Farmers Market this weekend to buy more. I LOVE corn on the cob so I have to have enough! lol!!! :))
Zaylee looks soooo cute w/her face painted! :)
Our school started this week, so keep us in your prayers! :)
Thanks!!!!
I love farmer's markets! Glad you got to go and those eggplants look perfect.
Hey! You finally did it! So glad you got it in before the end of summer!!! Your eggplant turned out prettier than mine did in my picture. But I think yours were much fresher. Let's see... Walmart and then in the fridge for 2 days? Or Farmers Market, probably picked that day, and cooked that evening. Yeah, I'd say yours were probably a lot yummier and less mushy!
