Zaylee Bakes a Cake

Our gift to Zaylee on her birthday was a baking set, with a big pink mixing bowl, pretty white mixing spoons, an apron, and several baking mixes. Today I finally got it out of the van (where it has been stashed since our Idaho trip) and Zaylee and I got to do some baking together.

Zaylee chose to make the chocolate cake mix, and we put on our aprons and got to work. She did such a good job stirring the batter.

I baked the cake, and while it was cooling Jeff helped Zaylee make a small batch of chocolate frosting. Once it was frosted, Zaylee was so excited to have it all finished and ready to eat! Look at that beaming face!

Enjoying the fruits of her labors.

My yummy piece, mmmm...

It's so fun to play in the kitchen with Zaylee and make yummy things together. She really loves to help me cook, so it's fun for her to have her very own things to cook with.

How sweet! That frosting looks so yummy and chocolatey.... and I am dying for some chocolate cake now. Thanks. That is soooo one of the first things I will be cooking once this baby gets here.

Glad Zaylee had fun today, I love when the boys want to help me make breakfast. Oren's getting pretty good at scrambling eggs. :-)

Such a great idea! I am sure she will have many good memories cooking, with a mom like you!
