Hmm, I wonder what Daddy's putting in my mouth.
Whoa, what is this stuff?
Daddy, I love you...
But I'm really not sure how I feel about this goop dripping down my chin.
Actually, she enjoyed her first official solid meal. She's got a bit of learning to do before she gets good at keeping it in her mouth, of course, but she had fun getting good and messy. :-)
Next picture - the completely constructed bookcase, waiting to be sanded and painted.
We just bought a power sander today, and I'm looking forward to giving it a go.
Lastly - the crocheted corsages for my sister Janelle's wedding this weekend. All together, they look like a cheery field of blue and white daisies.
This one is for the Maid of Honor, Janelle's friend Nicole:
These two are for the mother of the bride and the mother of the groom:
And these two are for Marie and Rheanna, the excited younger sisters of the bride:
I made these corsages by crocheting each flower and leaf separately. Then I sprayed them with lavender-scented starch so they would hold their shape (crocheted objects tend to curl up). Next I used hot glue to attach them to two layers of white felt, then I glued a brooch pin to the back.
For scale, here's me wearing one of the corsages:
They're flatter than traditional corsages, but I think they turned out quite pretty. If I find time in the next few days, I might make a couple more for Michelle and I to wear. Putting together the corsages was pretty quick and easy, but crocheting all those flowers and leaves was a lot of painstaking work (especially weaving in the ends, yikes).

Those corsages are gorgeous! What a lucky girl Janelle is to have such talented sisters!
And I love Audreys's faces. I didn't capture Carson's first meals, but that looks about right. :)
Oh, and the bookcase looks great! What type of stain/paint are you planning for it? Can't wait to see more!
I know I want to distress the bookcase, I just haven't decided what color paint to use. Probably white or dark green, because we already have those on hand and then I wouldn't have to go buy some. :-)
Dark green underneath in places, rub with candle wax. Paint over with white and then sand over where you put the green. Then sand over other places too. Take a hammer to it lightly or hit it with a chain to add more distressing.
Or get a crackle coat. Paint one color, a crackle coat (it's in the acrylic paint section at craft stores). Then a top coat of another color. The thicker the top coat the bigger cracks so more color shows. Thinner paint makes more hairline cracks. Both together looks awesome!
The corsages look gorgeous, by the way. Hope the cake turns out just as nice! And these are something they can keep forever unlike real flowers. And they'll stay nice since they are already flat, unlike fake flowers... :-)
And of course, Audrey is always adorable, but I love the cereal all over her chin. I think that's how babies absorb nutrients anway, self-defense mechanism since that's where the food always ends up.
I wrote a novel!
Those flowers are so pretty! I love them. i was actually wondering how they would look when you mention you were making them and I think you did a great job. I hope your sister likes them:). And way to go on the bookcase! Inspires me to try to make something fancy like that!
I am glad Audrey liked her cereal! You should have seen Gwen's first bite! She hated it, but it sure was a good laugh for us!
I absolutely LOVE the flowers! They're perfect!
