The apartment is back to its "as-close-to-clean-as-it-gets" state, after working on it off and on all day. The living room and dining room floor are no longer covered in toys, all the Zaylee clothes and books are cleared out of the bathroom, the laundry is put away, and the dishes are done. Okay, there's a pan or two soaking in the sink still, but they're at least under control. The dining room and kitchen floors have been swept, and the living room, hallway, and bedrooms were vacuumed. I even scrubbed out the bathroom sink. Tomorrow I'll probably work a bit on cleaning the stove and counters in the kitchen, and the dining room table. We didn't really get to them today.
I wonder how long we'll be able to keep the apartment like this. Especially with the dishes. That's one of our major problem areas. I've had phases where I can keep the dishes done every day for weeks at a time. But more often, we just don't do them. I really wish we had a dishwasher! But for now, we just need to work on getting into the habit of washing those dishes every day!
So much for a nice, relaxed Memorial Day. I'm actually surprised at myself - while we ate good today, I didn't really do anything special for the holiday. Just regular food, and no real celebration or anything. Oh well, it was a nice day anyway.

Well, don't worry about the dishes. I have a dishwasher, and I still can't keep up! It was so much easier when we lived at home and Mom made us do them. Her voice in my head doesn't work near as well as her standing there looking at me. :-)Great job getting things done! It feels great when I get the house under control. But it is so big and my kids are so crazy that it takes all my energy to maintain it, and then I yell all day because people touch stuff. And then I give up. Oh well!
It sounds like it was a productive day and it always feels so nice to get stuff done. And SOMEDAY you will have a dishwasher and you will appreciate it so much more.

We have a hard time keeping up with dishes as well...it's tough, huh?!?
I laughed when I read Michelle's comment b/c it sounded like me!!! :)) It does feel really good to get our homes straightened! If only they could stay that way!!! :))
And, I have to admit, I have a dishwasher, but I don't like it! I am the only one I know who has said that, but I usually do most of them by hand anyway! By the time the dishwasher washes and dries (and usually I have to towel try them as well, anyway), and then I get them put away, it took as much time as doing them myself! But.....don't listen to me, I am the minority around here! :))
