Happy Valentine's Day

I'm in the middle of making a fun cake. I did yellow cake from scratch, and added red food coloring to make it pink. I cooked it in two 9-inch rounds but I'm thinking of somehow making it heart shaped. I also melted some chocolate chips and piped it out in fun heart shapes. They're hardening in the fridge, and will be used to decorate the top of the cake. I'm excited about dinner - I'm roasting a cornish game hen with potato, sweet potato, and green pepper, and a nice saucy rub to flavor it all. It's kinda funny, but the thing that I look forward to the most at Valentine's Day is the food I get to prepare and eat. A fancy meal and dessert is one of my favorite ways to say "I love you."

Wow! I'm not doing anything amazing for dinner, though we had Aaron's favorite breakfast (hashbrowns, really easy, but he *claims* that only I can do them so perfectly). And we're not doing anything for dinner because it's a late night for him and we may go to the hospital since Aaron's dad had an emergency last night. At least we can drop in and shower the love on him, right? Hope your dinner goes great!!

Melinda took the words right out of my mouth! I didn't pull anything for dinner so at 5:15pm I decided that I would do split pea soup in the pressure cooker, since I have leftover ham in the freezer. I might have gone to more trouble if Steve were going to be home for dinner, but he has Round Table tonight so we won't see him until after 10pm.
