Exciting News

I have two bits of fun news to share. The first deals with my interior decorating, namely curtains. This is what I have to work with, as far as windows are concerned. These big, bulky, ugly blinds came with the apartment, and aren't removable.

But I finally found a way around it. I was thinking real hard about it last night, and suddenly realized that the big rod holding up the blinds is made of metal. So I bought a bunch of magnetic clips and some flat bedsheets (because I'm cheap), and here's the result (first without flash to show the back lighting, the second picture is with flash to show the fabric):

I have some ironing to do, but I like the way it looks. It really makes the room look prettier and more homey, and the green goes well with the green and beige of the couch.

To tie the curtains back, I bought a roll of this rope-like stuff. It's a cream color, so will go well with whatever colors I choose for the other rooms as well.

My other exciting news is that, though Thomas has been waking up wanting to eat at 2:30 every morning, my cry-it-out attempts have been paying off. Last night he slept until 5:00. He could have gone even longer, but I forgot to give him his evening snack before I went to bed last night. It felt good to be able to sleep that long.

Good job on the curtains, and I'm so glad to hear that Thomas is starting to sleep through the night again. That gets so exhausting!

I was just thinkin the same this. Flowers would look good. Great job on the curtains. I wouldn't have thought of magnetic clips. Of course, I didn't know the rod was metal.... I am glad you aren't having to listen to him cry as long as Mom with Marie!

Very creative curtain solution! So glad that more sleep is on the way. That always helps the outlook, even during hours of cabin fever times.
