My Day and Night

Yes, I was able to get out. The kids were down for a nap, Jeff was playing on the computer, so I took a shower, did my hair, and took off for town. There's a shopping strip with lots of great stores, so in two hours I window-shopped at Micheal's, Old Navy, World Market (an import store), and Bed Bath & Beyond. It was great. I felt refreshed and much better.

The evening wasn't quite as good though. Around the time I got home I felt a migraine coming on. I decided to wait it out and see if it would go away. Why do I do that? I ALWAYS try to wait it out, and it NEVER goes away on its own! So by the time I had finished eating my dinner, it was a full-blown monster of a migraine, so I took some Ibuprofen and had to lay down, totally incapacitated, for the rest of the evening, while Jeff took care of after-dinner cleanup and putting the kids to bed. I ended up falling asleep on the couch and didn't get up to go to bed until midnight. Thankfully the migraine was gone, because that's when the real fun started.

From midnight until 8:00 this morning, both kids played tag team keeping me awake all night long. I wasn't able to get more than an hour of sleep at a time. By the way, Zaylee has been doing this thing where she'll wake up once or twice every night, very upset and crying hard, and needs us to come in to comfort her. Any ideas on why she might be doing this or how to get it to stop? Her wake-up times don't usually coincide with Thomas's, so I don't think he's waking her up.

That would be really hard! I'm not sure I could handle being up all night with the kids... As for Zaylee, Madison went through a point just recently where she'd wake up in the night rather upset and come find us (she's not in a crib anymore so she just leaves her room) and there are times in the day when she will come tell me that she's scared of something. She's usually pretending to be scared, but the point is that she knows what scared is now; it has a name. It may be that Zaylee has reached a point where she understands that some things are scary and those things are waking her up at night... That would be my best guess :)

She might be reacting to the recent move too. She was in a room with older people at mom's house and now she is the big one in the room. It is strange and new. Also, my kids did this at this age, Nathan has been the worst of the older two. Up 2 or 3 times a night. It will go away as she gets a little older and understands more of the world around her. As they are more verbal and interacting with this world, the heavenly one withdraws some of it's presence. They forget it, because the things they could tell us are not for us to know. Some children can feel and remember what they are missing and it is hard for them. Good luck, and give her lots of love.

Tough luck! No clue on remedies for toddler wake-up...Evie's doing the same thing. Good thing you got SOME sleep before all that hullabaloo!
