Potty Training Update

I'm not sure Zaylee is ready developmentally to be out of diapers right now. I'll encourage her to sit on the potty, and if she doesn't produce anything after about five or ten minutes, I'll put her pants back on and let her go back to playing. A few minutes later she'll be wet. She has yet to ever tell me that she needs to go. I think I'll go back to putting her in diapers, while still encouraging frequent potty time. I'll wait to put her in training pants until she shows a little more developmental readiness for that step.

You can still do the underwear, just have "panty time" or something. Set aside a certain amount of time where she wears underwear. Take her to the toilet every 20 minutes or so. She is 2 1/2, so this is going to take some time and dedication on your part. She is learning and connecting that full bladder feeling with the wet panties and going, "Oh, I did that!" They have to wet a little to learn. My kids were 3 1/2 to 4 1/2 when they learned, so it was pretty easy physically, if I had started them younger we would have had more issues. Zaylee may be mentally ready, but 10 minutes may be too long to sit. You could try 2-3, that would still give her potty time, but relieve some of the "pressure to perform". Who knows! Good luck!

Jenna was just over 3--and we had tried so many times. I got so tired of the constant messes and accidents. But when we finally tried after we moved, she seemed READY! I was so surprised. So--it might NOT be the right time...hard to say. Just know it WILL happen sometime!
