What a fun morning!

When I got up this morning to feed Thomas and get the day started, I realized as I looked at Zaylee that she had vomit all down the front of her pajamas. Aah! I'm not sure when it happened, but further inspection revealed that she threw up, not only on her pajamas, but also got a little of each of her four blankies, her pajama doll, and her sheet. I called Mom and had her come pick up the bedding and pajamas to put it through the laundry. Since we got up Zaylee has thrown up three or four more times. She's cheerful and seems just fine in between episodes, but then will get really quiet, and come up to me and grab the little bowl I have by me so she can throw up in it. I'm very sorry that she's feeling sick today. I wish I could just make it go away so she could feel better. But I am glad that she has learned that she needs to throw up in the bowl if she can, instead of on her clothes. I'm very proud of her for that.

On top of this, Thomas has had diarrhea for a few days, and with every diaper his little bottom gets more and more red. I keep applying diaper rash ointment or Vaseline, and baby powder, but he just keeps pooping, so it just keeps getting worse. Poor thing, he cries every time he fills his diaper because it hurts, and then he cries even more when I change it; he rolls around and tries to escape. So between Thomas' diarrhea and rash, and Zaylee's throwing-up episodes, we've been having quite the fun morning. I hope they both feel better soon. If I'm going to be honest, I have to say that I want this for my own benefit as well as their's. It's no fun to clean up after sick children!

Emma had the same thing Thomas has (well, at least it sounds like it). She had diarrhea so bad she had a horrible rash and the diarrhea lasted a week...followed by a week of throwing up all night. I think the doctor said it was the rotovirus...most kids get it at least once. Anyway, good luck. It really is no fun.

For rashes like that, when the kid has diarhea, I like to use "magic diaper cream". Squirt a bunch of A&D, and Desitin into a container with a lid. Squeeze in some triple antibiotic ointment (neosporin) and some anti-fungal cream. Stir it up and keep out of reach of children. This works really good, it kind of hits all the causes of diaper rash all at once, and it sticks just enough without being hard to wipe of very raw tushies. I got this recipe from our pediatrician when William had one that WOULD NOT go away. Good luck with the kiddos, and I hope they get feeling better. That's no fun at all!

Wow Michelle, that's an interesting 'recipe' to keep on hand; quite the useful weapon, I would imagine :)
Steph, I'm sorry everyone is sick. It kind of ends up wearing out everyone when that happens. I hope they're feeling better soon!
