Jeff and I had a great date night tonight. The BYU-Idaho Sinfonietta are on tour, and performed here tonight. They are "selected from the Symphony Orchestra and represent some of the most exceptional musicians at BYU-Idaho. Each player brings many years of experience to the ensemble and adheres to an ambitious rehearsal and performance schedule." Basically, it's a group of musicians chosen from the Orchestra because of their extra diligence and talent. The music was absolutely beautiful - think 30 string instruments, from viola to violin to cello to bass to harp - all playing together. It was fantastic. The music they played was really beautiful. I really can't do justice to the wonderful concert we heard tonight.
Being there and attending this concert really brought back memories of my years at BYU-I. I attended so many various performances, from concerts to plays to recitals, many of them with Jeff. I also participated in plays and organ recitals. So many memories, of thoughts and feelings and emotions, excitement, anticipation, eagerness! It was such a wonderful evening. It was so nice to be able to attend a fine arts event with Jeff again, like we used to do all the time. We were able to leave the kids with my sister Marie, who is a wonderful babysitter, and Zaylee especially loves her. And the tickets for the concert were free, it was just a service to the community kind of thing.
I really wish I had brought my camera with me. I did take pictures of the program after we got home, and I wouldn't have been able to take any pictures during the performance. But the campus where the concert was held was absolutely beautiful!!! There were flowering trees surrounding long walkways, leading past beautiful vintage-like buildings with columns and arched windows. And it is very much within walking distance of our apartment. Jeff and I have agreed that very soon, and very often, we will picnic there on the grounds. I'll bring my camera and take pictures of the lovely trees and walkways and buildings and fountain. Yes, this little college campus had a fountain, small but pretty.
Our day before this was pretty nice too. The weather was beautiful so we wanted to picnic in the park for lunch. But when we got there, there was a car show going on - LOTS of fancy old cars all over and people wandering around looking at them. Jeff wanted to stay and look too, but I didn't. We continued up to the playground portion of the park, but that was overrun by children running amok, and didn't appeal to me either. Eventually we just went home and had our picnic on the living room floor.
After our picnic, though, we had the opportunity to enjoy the nice warm weather anyway. While driving we passed many yard sales, so after lunch we went back out and visited several. I bought a small pair of snow boots for a dollar. They should fit Zaylee next winter. And they're black, so they'll be fine for Thomas to wear after that. At another yard sale we got a bread machine cookbook that really appealed to Jeff, and a couple little toys that really appealed to Zaylee and I. All in all, we only spent $3.50, but we got some fun little things, and had a good time.
Oh, it's been such a nice day!

What a wonderful time! I love listening to orchestras. LOVE IT. The music is so soothing.
And how nice especially to have a sitter for a while. Glad you took advantage of it!
And most of all, I am so glad you felt beautiful! You really are!!
That does sound wonderful! I can't wait (and neither can Aaron, he's tired of sharing me with the baby) til I'm ready to leave her alone with someone else for a little bit and we can get an 'out' date. Picnics sound so great right now...we want to do one soon, too!
Loved your post with the dishes, by the way!
