After D.I. we hit Wal-Mart. We had to make it a really quick trip, because we realized as we were on our way there that it was already 1:30 and we hadn't had lunch yet! I was very proud of Jeff and I. The only things we got that weren't on our list were actually things that should have been on the list - bananas, onions, flour, and sour kraut for the pupusas tonight. We resisted the temptation to stop and get fast food, or to buy snacks and junk food while we were at Wal-Mart. We stayed strong!
After shopping we came home and did up a very fast lunch of bologna sandwiches. The rest of the day was pretty uneventful until this evening when we made yummy pupusas (stuffed tortillas - yum!). Jeff and I cooked them together, though I have to say that I did the majority of work on them. I really enjoy cooking and being in the kitchen with Jeff. It's one of the things we can do together as a couple to bring us closer together, without having to spend money or even leave the house. And I love that both of us are fairly open to new taste experiences. When I was younger, something like pupusas would have grossed me out - sour kraut and ground turkey in a homemade corn tortilla? Euw! But now that I'm older and my tastes have matured, I find that I love trying new flavors, even when at first they seem a little odd or different. And I love that we are cultivating that adventurous palate in Zaylee, though not yet to the same degree. She enjoyed the pupusas, but there are definitely foods and flavors at which she draws the line! Sour kraut, for instance...

That's awesome you found a good deal on jeans! And way to stay strong on the shopping list.... I have a hard time sticking to my list too. There is always something I forgot to put on at home that I don't remember until I see it in the store.
Hi there! What a great deal on jeans?! And, way to go on reaching your 140 goal weight!!! That's awesome!!! I know the feeling. I had gained some weight (a good 30-40 lbs.) two yrs. ago and have had a heck of a time getting it off! So far, I have lost 20, but have a good 15 more to go. I did the same as you and told myself I would buy new clothes as a treat when I reach my goal!!! Wish me luck b/c I have been stuck at the same weight for the last several months (probably has some to do w/winter and I'm a walker). I don't do as well on the treadmill - I like to walk outside, so I'm hoping w/nicer weather coming I will get back out there and do a lot of walking! :)
P.S. Thanks for adding me to your friends list! It made my day!!! :) I haven't had time yet, but am going to update my blog soon!!! :) Have a good day!!!
Great finds at D.I.! Yeah!, for finding things cheap :) We enjoy trying new foods periodically, and we do encourage Kellen to try new things, but we're not quite *that* adventurous. I smelled sauerkraut cooking on a crock pot one day and that was enough to convince me I never wanted to put it in my mouth. But I completely agree with how nice it feels to have hubby working with you in the kitchen to get a meal ready :)
How exciting to have new jeans. That fit. What a good feeling.
I have to agree with Calista on the sauerkraut thing. I have tried it...twice...and I just can't make myself like it. But I'm not a very adventurous eater. I'm glad you guys enjoyed your fun dinner.
You got some super-cute dishes! I can't wait to see them in use. I love the sound of this recipe and will have to give it a try. (Though I'm not a fan of sour kraut, I may stretch a little and check it out.)
With the sour kraut, we rinse it with some water and drain that off, it really subdues the flavor and makes it go really well with the pupusas.
